(8/1/06) Valuation and Media Ecology (deadline extended!)

DEADLINE EXTENDED:

CALL FOR PAPERS: Valuation and Media Ecology: Ethics, Morals, and Laws

Now accepting completed manuscripts that bring the media ecology
tradition to aspects and dimensions of human valuation. Manuscripts, any
length, should be original, innovative scholarship that addresses
ethics, morals, or laws in terms of media and media environments. All
qualitative methodologies are welcome though special consideration will
be given to broad-based, multi-disciplinary syntheses that integrate the
writings of several seminal media ecologists and then apply their
integration to contemporary ethical/moral/legal issues. Especially
welcome would be submissions that bring Ong, McLuhan, Mumford, Postman,
Ellul, Langer and Benjamin (numerous others) into a synthetic voice
which then further addresses issues such as: evolving moral
environments, moral histories formed around key technologies, the role
of literacy in moral reasoning, ethical applications of general
semantics, television and the moral dimensions of racism, legal process
and mass media, the ethics of automation, & the moral impact of emerging
telecommunication technologies, etc..

Manuscripts must conform to MLA style.
Complete manuscripts need to be submitted by August 1st, 2006.
