(9/1/06) CFP: Academic Ombudsing
Call for Proposals
A Special Issue of the Journal of the California Caucus of College and
University Ombuds:
Academic Ombudsing
The aim of this forthcoming issue of the Journal of the California
Caucus of College and University Ombuds is to focus on the practice of
ombudsing in the academic setting. We welcome contributions from every
perspective and discipline toward this end.
The Journal of the CCCUO is the only peer-reviewed journal in the U.S.
devoted to ombudsing and endeavors to foster a scholarship of ombudsing.
We are now accepting inquiries and proposals for manuscripts on any
aspect of academic ombudsing, such as but not limited to:
- definition of academic ombudsing
- the history of academic ombudsing, including: the origins of
academic ombudsing; events and mandates surrounding both the beginning
and development of academic ombudsing; shifts in the social, political
and economic environments of academic ombudsing; and the role(s) of
academic ombuds
- similarities and differences in regard to ombuds practice in
other settings such as corporations, government agencies, and news
media
- reviews of recent books that address academic ombudsing
- other aspects of theory and practice of academic ombudsing
