Buddhism and Cultural Studies
For the launch of my new podcast, I'll be posting recordings of several lectures. Here is a class I taught last year on the connections between Buddhism and critical theory. For more info, you can check out the Buddhism section of the blog.

Goodbye, Kurt Cobain
I made this in 1994, shortly after Cobain’s death. The music playing in the background is Unrest’s cover of “God Gave Rock’n’Roll to You,” originally performed by Kiss.

Plink
A couple of years ago, I bought a Roland MC-505, also known as a “Groovebox.” It’s an all-in-one sequencer, drum machine, and synthesizer. It’s amazing because it completely divorces music-making from physical dexterity - just press a key, push the “arpeggiator” button, and a single note becomes a complex riff. I started composing little ambient grooves. Here’s “Plink,” recorded 11/20/00.
